Around 260 tribals had participated in the first "half-marathon" organised in Lahual and Spiti district of Himachal Pradesh, located at an altitude of 10,354 ft in Himachal Pradesh.
Baljinder Singh from Punjab have won the first "Half-Marathon" by covering the distance just in 1 hr, 19 Min & 26 Sec, while Reeta Kumari won the second position and first in the women's category, by covering the distance in 1 hr, 36 Min & 02 Sec.
According to Baljinder Singh, the Winner of the Race, it's difficult to run at such a high altitude where oxygen is scarce, but good for an atheletes & players in order to boost up the stamina that it takes.
Atheletes & Sports personalities from different states like Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab participated in the race along with the Indian army at Keylong, the headquarter of Lahual and Spiti for the tribal festival that began yesterday.
According to senior officials, it would be an annual event during the tribal festival.
